Description
This blue grape variety grows vigorously with a dense leaf wall that can create disease problems such as powdery mildew and therefore requires a little more work with defoliation. Rondo produces large clusters with very colorful grape juice.

Harvesting
The bunches and grapes are medium in size and the harvest is fairly even.

Cultivation site
This grape variety requires planting in a well-planned location with good conditions due to its relatively early bud burst and a late spring frost can be devastating. Plant in lightly warmed soils, avoid high clay content which is usually colder.

The wines
Full-bodied, soft and powerful wines with shades of violet that are well suited to barrel aging.
