Description
This blue grape variety does not grow very vigorously and may need a vigorous rootstock instead of the usual SO4. The main feature is its resistance to powdery mildew and leaf mold, which reduces the spraying of the vines by up to 80% compared to conventional grape varieties.
Harvesting
The bunches and grapes are medium in size and the harvest is fairly even.
Cultivation site
This grape variety requires planting in a well-planned location with good conditions and has a higher requirement for magnesium in the soil than the average among grape varieties. Plant in slightly warmed soils, avoid high clay content which is usually colder.
The wines
In a really good year, the wines will be deep, full-bodied and rich in flavor with a Mediterranean character that is well suited to barrel aging.
Resistance
Powdery mildew: high
Leaf mold: high
Botrytis: high
